Official: Cape Towns Biggest Party – The Cape Town Tens

Sports Escapes (www.sportsescapes.com) are the proud travel partners of the Cape Town Tens (www.capetowntens.com). In its 4th year the tournament has grown from 24 to 78 teams with over 1500 players making it the largest Social Rugby Tournament in the world (surpassing the likes of Dubai and Hong Kong).

Cape Town itself has recently been voted by millions on the travel review site Trip Advisor as the best city in the world to visit.

Combining the World’s best city with the World’s biggest social rugby tournament is a recipe for one of the largest parties you are ever likely to attend.

The 1st arrivals for the tournament came in on Tuesday a group of travelling supporters from the UK, Ireland and Middle East. Travelling as part of the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation (CNCF) they spent the week experiencing the best Cape Town has to offer with the International superstars that play in the tournament. 12 ex international players from the British Isles, New Zealand, Samoa and South Africa combine using their touring experience to lead the way visiting wine farms, township development projects, Cape Town’s best beaches and of course it’s restaurants, bars and nightclubs. More to follow on this tour in a future blog, we have big plans for the 2013 tour. Anyone interested in joining please contact us on the details at the bottom of this blog and watch facebook for this years pics.

This is how we roll – The CNCF VIP Tour laps it up at Clifton Beach while friends and family in Europe experiences the big freeze.

The Cape Town Tens

On Friday over a 1500 rugby players from throughout Africa and the rest of the world (teams from Botswana to Nigeria) descended on Cape Town bringing with them their own travelling support and drawing the never shy Cape Town party crowd out to Hamilton’s Rugby Ground. This central venue is in the shadows of the World Cup Stadium, has Table Mountain as it’s back drop and Africa’s largest beer tent at it’s core. With a mixture of local and international live bands and free flowing Castle Lager the weekend erupts like no other event we have been to.

The selection of Video’s below will give you a taste of what went down in 2012 with the scary prospect that 2013 plans to be even bigger.
