Shoes and Love – An experience in memory of Yvonne
Join us for an afternoon of laughter and upliftment
Mums grandchildren are coming together (for the 1st time!) on an African adventure that would make her proud. 7 kids under 7 this is going to be epic (if not slightly mad).
On 25th October we are heading to Khayelitsha for a mind blowing experience and you’re invited.
Come help the Thokozani Borthers launch their new Youth Centre. This is as grass roots as it gets! We are helping to supply running water and toilets to get things started. With running water will come a garden and so a new oasis for local children is born. This Centre gives children a safe place to go and a positive outlet for young enthusiasm and talent.
The children will be showing off their considerable talents so expect plenty of singing and dancing this is not going to be a bland affair.
To top it off we need help fitting and handing out 300 pairs of new school shoes for many the 1st new shoes ever owned. (Talk to anyone who has been on a Bobs For Good shoe drop, they are a fun uplifting experience that will stick with you forever).
When and Where: 25 October a bus will leave Noordhoek at 1.30 and picking up in Town enroute. Champers on ice and drop off in town and then the Toad for a session after.
Who: Bring yourself and your children this will be more fun and educational than school.
How Much: Petra from GRS Tours (details below) has donated a bus and James from Uthando SA who runs tours and co-ordinates the fund raising for these projects have offered their services completely FREE!! All they ask is for a donation with 100% of the money raised going to straight to the Thokozani Brothers project.
Please RSVP and let me know if you are interested and I’ll send out more details to those keen nearer the time. Book the afternoon off this is going to be epic!
ABOUT: Bobs For Good
Mum with help from all kinds of family and friends raised well over 50,000 ZAR for the Bobs for Good Foundation earlier this year. Check out www.moourl.com/caseycapers for a list of all the fantastic people that helped.
Cinderella is proof that shoes can change your life. The Bobs for Good foundation helps show children in Africa’s poorest communities there is hope and someone cares by supplying new school shoes to children who otherwise cannot afford them. A seemingly small gesture but with a long lasting effect on young learners who are the future of Africa.
ABOUT: Thokozani Brothers
Thokozani Brothers is a non-profit organization which was established in 1997 by ten young men who started singing Isicathamiya – a traditional form of music.
Mhlangabezi Masizana manages the youth development project on a daily basis, teaching the children in Khayelitsha singing, dancing and life skills.
Thokozani Brothers was founded in response to the social challenges under which individuals in their community find themselves, especially the youth. Many children are involved in criminal activities as there are no other recreational outlet for them, and that is why Thokozani brothers has become so important in their community today. They have acquired a piece of land and a with the help of Uthando SA are setting up a centre and safe haven where children can be taken care of and mentored every day.
They also aim to become self-sustainable through performing gigs for companies, travel groups and at functions. The adult choir has sung internationally in Europe and Mexico.
